Telescoping Boom Lifts
Telescoping booms lifts are designed to mount a work bucket on a straight, extendable arm that is located on a rotating turntable. Usually, telescoping boom lifts are used for jobs that need reaching at maximum height, exceeding other kinds of lifts. For example, employees are able to carry out exterior repairs or renovations on medium sized buildings but using these lifts instead of having the additional work of setting up a pulley system or an outside elevator.
The boom lift bucket normally only holds one worker. These buckets are better suitable to particular jobs like for example electrical repair, rather than window washing or general maintenance. These lifts are available in gas or electric configurations and are offered with both indoor and outdoor tires.
Scissor Lifts
Scissor lifts are named for the cross-braces underneath the work platform. These braces squeeze together in order to push the platform straight up. As these types of machinery must be positioned directly under the work site, these units are way more limited in their use compared to boom lifts.
Scissor lifts do, on the other hand, provide bigger platforms which allow the operator controlling the lift to access a bigger work surface once the lift is raised. With scissor lifts, all-terrain capability is less of an issue with these types of equipment, because they need to sit on flat ground in order to be utilized. Scissor lifts are great for being used for window installation or cladding, because they provide the workers with the desired mobility; they are also a great choice for exterior repairs or window cleaning applications.
Boom Trucks vs. Cranes
Bucket trucks, cherry pickers and boom trucks each refer to the class a kind of utility vehicle used specially for vertical work. Generally, these trucks have a cab. It is here where the driver sits and controls the machine. There is a bucket for where the worker can stand along with a winch for lifting and an actuator arm for lifting the boom.
Cherry pickers could lift employees up to heights that were previously inaccessible. The cranes function is to raise both heavy materials and equipment for one location to another. There are a variety of different crane types which could carry out various purposes. Both of these different kinds of equipment excel at various jobs and are great for particular applications and completing certain jobs.
