A stock picker, also known as an order picker is a machinery which is quite similar to a forklift. It enables the driver to utilize forks to pick up a pallet. An order picker is also capable of lifting the operator up to higher shelves for picking certain objects, and this feature is something the forklift does not provide. Typically, order pickers are operated by electricity. These machines are mainly utilized in a warehouse setting. Most often they are utilized for moving pallets and completing certain jobs in the stocking and shelving department.
The order picker operator uses controls to control the unit from a platform setting which normally sits quite near the ground. The operator could direct the equipment to go backwards, forwards or steer it from side to side. As soon as the operator has positioned the unit in place the blades could be lifted up to the required level which makes it convenient for the operator. Like for instance, if the materials required, are located on a shelf which the operator cannot reach, then whole platform is capable of being lifted up to certain level. Due to the counterweight located at the other end, the unit remains balanced, even at higher levels.
The platform is then lowered back to its original position after the order has been picked. The order picker is then directed or driven to its next location. With the majority of models, it is possible to move the order picker while the platform is raised, although, some businesses might have policies and procedures in place preventing such maneuvers in the name of safety. An order picker could also put pallets on a shelf. Stackers and forklifts can be utilized to finish these specific jobs at several companies instead.
