Types of Construction Lifts or Boom Lifts
Construction lifts refer to the equipment used to enable employees to go to high-up locations without building any scaffolding. They are utilized to do maintenance work, to work on elevated structures and are common equipment found in factory and warehouse settings as well.
Normally, construction lifts offer powered and wheeled bases which are capable of driving to the work place and have a platform on them that is responsible for lifting workers. There are a lot of different kinds of lifts and each one is suited to various tasks and environment.
Bucket Trucks
Cherry pickers or bucket trucks, are built with a long boom that has a bucket connected at the end. This bucket area is where an employee may stand. Normally, bucket trucks are used by landscapers and by utility workers. Landscapers usually use these kinds of equipment to cut trees.
Bucket trucks are outfitted with a boom assembly which is mounted on a regular truck, and this means these lifts can travel on roads at regular traffic speeds. This mobility greatly increases the area they could effectively service. This is particularly important for power companies. For example, a lot of these businesses use cherry pickers to lift workers up so they can work on and reach transmission lines. The buckets should be checked frequently and insulated well as they are working close to possible shock hazards.
Articulated boom lifts are also referred to as "knuckle lifts", and have a work platform which is mounted on an arm that could bend in order to reach around obstacles. The base of the lift includes a turntable and is capable of turning the lift in a full circle. The base of the lift is mounted on wheels also for extra mobility.
Normally, the articulated boom lift is used for landscaping projects but is also useful for maintenance work on projects that are already completed. Projects that do not require easy access directly underneath the jobsite. These lifts can be utilized to repair piping or exterior electrical work, and difficult to clean areas. Often knuckle lifts are driven by the employee in the platform with the boom extended.
